THIS IS HOPE: INTENTIONALITY

By Kim Humphrey, Director of Operations

Early in the day at the Hike for HOPE 💜, my son came to me with some emotions that he wasn’t sure why he was feeling.

We hugged and talked and he realized that the Hike can bring up big emotions as he thinks about his special person – his twin sister Mayzie.

After spending a few minutes together, I encouraged him to go to the bouncy obstacle course to get some energy out.

And off he ran!

Activities with a purpose

Fast forward about an hour as our guests from Camelback Moving and I participate in the “Let Go Labyrinth”. The purpose of this activity is to write on dissolvable paper something you would like to let go of – a negative feeling, or a worry – and then place the paper in a water vessel at the center of the labyrinth to watch it dissolve.

As we were exiting the labyrinth, I looked over and saw my son at the writing table, focusing intently on what to write on his paper.

It stopped me in my tracks…

There he was, calm and completely focused, able to participate in the activity intentionally. It was amazing to see how the bouncy obstacle course allowed him to express some of those emotions through big physical movements and then be able to focus!

Everything we do at Billy’s Place has a purpose to help kids and families find HOPE. In this instance, you could see the impact clearly in my son.

This is HOPE 💜.

Thank you, Camelback Moving!
